Paraphrase
5th day of the 6th month in a Wood Sheep year. The novice monk Sonam gives Amchi Tshewang (of Upper Tshognam) the threshing yard called Khagyab and one house in lieu of the 17 rupees that he owes him; these things have been given definitively until the world ages end. Without attributing to the left the fault of the right, the novice monk Sonam willingly sets his mark to this. The witnesses are Amchi Namgyal of Tshultrim Gonpa, Tshering of Lubrak, Pema Tshewang of Chongkhor and Tenpa Angyal of Pagling. The scribe was Tshultrim.

5th day of the 6th month in a Wood Sheep year. The novice monk Sonam definitively gives Amchi Tshewang a pair of fields in the Cikung area in lieu of 10 rupees that he owes him. To confirm that he will not diverge from this agreement the novice monk Sonam willingly sets his mark. The witnesses are above. The field has been given until the world ages end, and if anyone should contest this, the novice monk Sonam says that he will be able to oppose them, and to this novice monk Sonam sets his mark.

It has been decided that (novice monk Sonam) shall pay two rupees for two years’ worth of interest on the 10 rupees.

5th day of the 6th month in a Wood Sheep year. The following is a document of loan. Amchi Tshewang has lent Tenpa Angyal of Pagling 2 rupees. As the interest on this, he shall pay 1 zo ba of barley per ṭam. In confirmation that he will never diverge from this agreement, Tenpa Angyal freely and willingly sets his mark. The witnesses to this agreement are Pema Tshewang of Chongkhor and the novice monk Sonam. The scribe was Tshultrim.

Commentary
Note that the three components of this document occurred on the same day. The third transaction—the loan of 2 rupees witnesses by Amchi Tshewang to Tenpa Angyal—appears to be a spontaneous arrangement in which one of the witnesses to the two earlier agreements decided on the spot to ask the lama for a loan. Tenpa Angyal and the novice monk Sonam have simply exchanged places as participant and witness.

Note
Lines 2, 5, ’bu so: concerning this expression, see note to HMA/UTshognam/Tib/08, where it appears as ’bur rtsu.
Line 3, tshul mgon a spyi rna brgyal: Tshultrim Gonpa is a private temple in Dzar, occupied by a family of Bonpo amchis.
Line 11, sna pa: this represents the Nepali term nāphā, lit. “profit, gain”, used somewhat imprecisely in the present context to denote “interest”.
